2023 Nissan Altima Review, Pricing, and Specs,The 2023 Nissan Altima is a great-looking family sedan with sharp looks, a roomy interior, and an available four-wheel drive system. For power, the Altima has two different four-cylinder engines to choose from: a 182-hp base engine or a 248-hp variable-pressure turbo unit. However, that's as far as driving the Altima in the circumstances. Whichever way you choose, it comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and provides more precise driving than fun. With an EPA highway rating of 39 mpg, the Altima is the most fuel-efficient of any non-hybrid vehicle. The spacious interior, comfortable seats, optional 12.3-inch infotainment screen and strong offering of standard safety features make This sedan is easy to live with - even if it lacks the spirit of a Honda Accord or the refinement of a Toyota Camry.
What's New for 2023
Nissan is updating the Altima's appearance for 2023 with new wheels, a redesigned front end with new LED headlights and the company's new logo. There are also two new paint options: Sky Pearl Gray and Garnet Pearl Metallic. Apart from these minor visual changes, the top trim level has been changed from Platinum to SL. The Altima's interior gets a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes standard on the SL and SR models, but is available on the SV as optional equipment. Nissan has expanded standard safety features with Safety Shield 360 driver assistance technology. New standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic rear braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and high beam assist .
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Altima has a standard 188-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). An optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivers up to 248 horsepower on premium fuel and also uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) While Nissan promotes the technology, its innovative variable compression can only be used with the 2.5-liter engine with four-wheel drive. The standard four-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive has expected, if not noticeable, acceleration. The engine noise got louder the more we hit the gas pedal, but the four-cylinder Camry we tested was strong at times. The VC-Turbo engine makes the Altima noticeably faster. Despite the comfortable turbo engine and unusual four-wheel drive system, the Nissan isn't quite as fun to drive as the Accord. The Altima SR has a sporty suspension and 19-inch wheels that make it more fun on twisty roads. However, these upgrades also reduce the ride quality found in regular Altima models. Surprisingly, the SL (ex-Platinum) we drove has more cornering grip than the 2019 BMW 330i xDrive we tested. The Nissan also has a comfortable ride that suppresses vibrations on undulating pavement. Its steering was accurate by family sedan standards and added no effort to simulate steering feel. The brake pedal in the Altima has linear feedback and quick responses to our inputs.
