Toyota supra 2023,The sporty Toyota Aura 2023 Supra offers enough excitement, style and drama to offset the brand's more sober sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs.
Developed and built alongside the BMW Z4 convertible, the Supra offers similar build quality and simpler – but still beautiful – interior materials.
The 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine provides plenty of power, but we can't help but admire the optional 382-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW compact that powers this two-seater.
The stable chassis and sharp steering make it come alive on twisty roads and racetracks.
Sure, it might ask for a bit of a BMW parts kit for some Toyota fans, and its sunken exterior creates some terribly large blind spots, but still, the Supra remains one of our favorite sports cars, a car for the driver and the enthusias.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Prior to 2023, all Supra models had an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive; This year, a six-speed manual is finally available, but only with the optional 3.0-liter six-speed turbocharger.
On the test track, the 2020 Supra 3.0 long-range (eight-speed automatic) set some impressive acceleration numbers: it hits 60 km/h in 3.7 seconds and 100 km/h in 9.5 points. This puts it in the major championships against the Chevy Camaro SS, Porsche Cayman GTS and BMW M2 Competition.
In fact, it's faster than the garnished fourth-generation Supra that was powered by a stepless turbocharger with 320 horsepower.
Despite the performance potential, the Supra's suspension is forgiving enough for everyday driving.
Enhancing its fun-to-drive character, the cheaper four-cylinder model delivered 4.7 seconds to 60 mph on our test track. That's faster than the Supra's German cousin - the BMW Z4 - which managed a five-second 0-60 mph shot, and the only downside we found with the Supra's long-range performance was how easily it stuck in the snow.
what's new for 2023
Spurred by protests over the Supra's lack of a manual transmission, Toyota has added a six-speed stick to the lineup for 2023.
The manual will be available as a no-cost option with the more powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged 6 engine, and will be standard on a new special edition called the A91-MT model.
The A91-MT will be limited to just 500 models in the U.S. and will come in matte white or matte gray with a brown and black interior.
Other changes to the 2023 Supra lineup include revised suspension and steering tuning and the introduction of a new driving mode called Hairpin+, which allows Extra wheels on one of the rear tires to help the Supra turn around the tight turns.
The Toyota Aura 2023 Supra sports car delivers just enough excitement, style and drama to offset the brand's more discreet sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs.
Developed and built alongside the BMW Z4 Convertible, the Supra offers similar build quality and simpler - but still beautiful - interior materials.
